Our Tree Plantation Initiative in 2024: An Eco-Friendly Mission

The year 2024 was a milestone for us as we carried out extensive tree plantation programs under the #PlantForBangladesh initiative. The primary funding and strategic planning for this initiative were led by Dr. Musa Kobir. He has been dedicated to the greening of Daulatpur and surrounding areas for a long time, and under his inspiration and guidance, we were able to execute the project in a more structured and impactful manner.

Dr. Musa Kobir’s contributions extended beyond financial support—he provided expert advice on proper plantation techniques, tree maintenance, and the long-term environmental benefits of afforestation. His vision to transform Daulatpur into a fruit garden has been the driving force behind our work.

Our Achievements in 2024

  • Planted 5,000+ Trees – We planted a variety of fruit-bearing trees, including mango, guava, olive, jackfruit, starfruit, and wood apple.
  • New ‘Nobo Gram’ Green Village Project – We initiated a greening project in Molla Para, aiming to transform it into a sustainable, eco-friendly village.
  • 1,000 Mango Trees in a Remote Char Area – Our plantation extended to an isolated region that previously had no afforestation efforts.Chimari Chor, Daulatpur, Kushtia.
  • Advanced Tree Care Methods – Implemented water tank systems to ensure tree survival during extreme summer heat.
  • Special Tree Protection Measures – Used bamboo poles and ropes to safeguard young saplings.

Inauguration & Closing Ceremony

The formal inauguration and closing ceremonies of our tree plantation initiative were held successfully, attended by local authorities, educators, volunteers, and environmentalists.

Inauguration Program:
Dr. Musa Kobir delivered the keynote speech, emphasizing the importance of tree plantation and outlining his long-term vision for greening the region. The event also featured awareness sessions on tree care and environmental sustainability. Additionally, we distributed free saplings to local residents.

Closing Program:
During the closing event, we reviewed our overall progress, challenges faced, and future goals. Our volunteers shared their experiences, and the current status of the planted trees was discussed. However, we did not conduct any specific training sessions for farmers this year. Instead, our primary focus remained on tree maintenance and future expansion strategies.

Why Fruit Trees?

Instead of planting timber trees, we prioritized fruit-bearing trees to ensure direct benefits for both people and wildlife. This approach contributes to long-term food security and environmental sustainability.

Future Plans

In 2025, we aim to plant 5,000 to 10,000 more trees and further strengthen the “Transform Daulatpur Kushta into a Fruit Garden” movement. Our plan includes engaging more individuals, particularly students from schools, colleges to participate in afforestation initiatives.
